Prey Werecats Book 4 Rachel Vincent 9780778326816 Books Reviews
Rachel Vincent has managed to outdo the previous books in the series. Poor Faythe embarks on a heartbreaking journey to rescue Marc that leaves her more confused and frustrated than ever. During that journey the Sanders family experiences their first travesty in the family that escalates the divide on the council to an all out war between the Prides. Going into the book, I knew that it was going to be a tearjerker so I dreaded reading every page for like half of the book. But even so, I could not seem to put it down. After the family death I cheered Faythe on as she matured and began to make decisions like the Alpha she will need to be. Great read and I can't wait for the next one!
I through this series was well-written but it reminded me of series by Kelley Armstrong that starts with Bitten. I also did not like the main character. She was really self-centered throught most of the series and always demanded her independence even when it put many others at risk. I enjoyed the surrounding characters and the story was interesting. Also the book was well edited.
I liked this whole series. The main character is mouthy and plucky and resists the traditionally macho shifter heirarchy in a way that's awesomely determined and (usually) falls short of beating-a-dead-horse stubborn. The plots are well thought and and flow logically. The romance angle was covered and done well; it wasn't the typical situation where the lady doth protest too much, there was actual conflict! I bought, read and liked the entire series.
Vincent's books never fail to entertain. This easy-to-read but hard-to-put-down series tells the story of a young, single, werecat who has been recalled home from college before she can finish graduate school in order to take over the family business, the pride. Without spoiling some of the shocking drama of this novel's plot, I will only say that Vincent continues to ratchet up both the dramatic stakes of her novels.
Well worth the time and money.
If you haven't yet read the rest of the series. It would probably be best to start with book one, Stray. Stray (Werecats, Book 1)
So I am flying through these books, I just finished this (again up to midnight reading) and I loved this book. I feel like this book got much more of an emotional reaction from me because there was a lot going on. If you have not fallen in love with the characters in this series yet, this is the book that will do it. I am not going to ruin it by telling what happens, but I am team Marc and I cringed at certain parts during this book, so enough said. I think everyone is starting to mature and Faythe is finally starting to take her proper role in the pride. I like that we are watching this happen and we can see the slow changes in her as the series continues. I also love Kaci! She is exactly what Faythe needs (although she doesn't exactly want) right now. All the individual stories are starting to weave together and I am really enjoying watching it happen. Off to read Shift now!
I LOVE this series. I love the world, the characters, the plot-everything. I know that many people dislike the heroine and there are times that I want to reach through the book and slap her but I think the author does a great job of also making her so human and so flawed that I can also sympathize with her. Yes, Faythe is impulsive and immature but her extreme environment has pushed her to that. She is a strong willed, independent woman who wants to break free from the ultra macho alphas and while I find the men hilarious, adorable, and hot I can't blame her!
I love how Mac adores her and how his love appears pretty unconditional. It is unrealistic but this is a book and pure escapism )
Prey is not my favorite book in the series, but to me it was one of the most important ones. It turns the series in a new direction and it also shows a maturing, wiser Faythe. There are some heartbreaking moments in this book, and also some very touching ones. You get to see Greg Sanders softer side, you get to see how much Faythe really does love her family and Marc and you also get to see how tragically flawed some of the relationships are. I couldn't wait to read the rest of the series after this book.

Sometimes playing cat and mouse is no game...
Play? Right. My Pride is under fire from all sides, my father's authority is in question and my lover is in exile. Which means I haven't laid eyes on Marc's gorgeous face in months. And with a new mother and an I-know-everything teenager under my protection, I don't exactly have time to fantasize about ever seeing him again.
Then our long-awaited reunion is ruined by a vicious ambush by strays. Now our group is under attack, Marc is missing and I will need every bit of skill and smarts to keep my family from being torn apart. Forever.
First, I must say that this is her best Shifter book to date. Action, suspense, blood, sweat and tears, this book has it all. Rachel Vincent has proven herself again with her wonderful characters and enthralling storyline. With every story Faythe grows up a little more. With Prey, she was thrust full force into being an Alpha. Other experiences were just rehearsals for this book. She proves in this book that she has what it takes to run the Pride after her father. I laughed, cried and was angry right along with Faythe and I enjoyed this book immensly. Intriguing stories like this are exactly why Rachel Vincent is a New York Times Bestselling Author.
She cheated. Her boyfriend is half dead and she cheated. Comfort sex? There's so much crap in this book and then you have a 2 guys in love with the lady . (and not together. It was just cheating ) Hello. Did not expect. I don't even want to finish the book. Not reality. Jace was not really a great thought out character. So I was crying about Ethan and the whole book and had no emotion about Jace. He is selfish. I don't think I've ever read a book where the woman cheated or the guy cheated.
One of the better books in this series all of which are worth a read.
