The fifth edition of this widely used textbook combines narrative explanatory sections that set forth the basic law together with cases, treaties, international documents, questions and problems. Epps focuses on the central problems of international law and how it operates and encourages students to work through a number of questions and problems that are presented in a variety of international contexts. The book's coverage is comprehensive, including recent materials and cases on sources, treaties, jurisdiction, immunities, extradition, the law of the sea, environmental law, international courts and tribunals, the status of international entities, human rights, international criminal law, terrorism, and the laws of war. There is also a set of power point slides to accompany the text distributed free to any faculty member who adopts the book for a course. Faculty will find that the questions posed after every case, or other materials, provide a very useful template for getting students to focus on the essential meaning and implications of the cases and materials. The problems are designed to test students' abilities to combine what they have learned throughout a chapter to come up with a comprehensive answer.

As the book name suggests, I used this book to complete my course on none other than International Law. I do recall referencing the book quite a bit throughout the semester, however I would in no way say it is dire to have in order to complete the course I took. Actually I kind of take that back, my professor took his exam questions practically word for word out of this book, and once I figured that out, all it took was a quick read of the chapter in order to be able to recognize the excerpts from the book on the exams. So all in all, a decent purchase :) Oh... also, the seller was fine, shipping was timely, and therefore I had no issues there.Product details

International Law Fifth Edition Valerie Epps 9781611632286 Books Reviews
The course I'm using this book for is one of the best one I've taken while in university. I have extensively marked up the textbook, and plan on reading the rest of the cases well after my international law class ends.
An easily digestible law book on what could be a very difficult topic. The cases are pertinent, and many are very current. I use this book for class, and have found it appropriate for students interested in law, but not necessarily in becoming a lawyer. Well written, especially for a textbook.
It is a good one but it is kind of hard to be understood. We work on it during the class and I am happy to have it. There is so many international court desicions. You can find it very useful. You can learn a lot about the treaties between USA and other states.
It is required reading for this international law class. Easy to read and pretty good explanations of laws and very understandable.
Tough read but great information for anyone interested in international law.
This book was very informative, but it seemed to mainly focus on the U.S. and it's relations with other countries. Since the title is International Law, I assumed it would cover more countries and their disputes. Ever way, I learned a lot from this book.
Even though I used this as a texbook, it was not a bad read. Pretty useful and to the point for the most part.
